No Job? HPSVS Selling ₦5,000 Form to Learn 12 Skills

Last week, Mrs. Ngozi from Ezinato called me. Her daughter finished secondary school in 2023. No university admission. No job. She just sleeps, presses phone, and quarrels at home.

Ngozi asked me, “Sylvia, where can she learn handwork that brings money?”

Every mother in Anambra is asking the same question: “After WAEC, then what?”

University is expensive. Jobs are scarce. But one school in Awka South has been quietly giving youths a different answer for years.

His Promise School of Vocational Studies, Nodu,

Why it matters: In 2025, HPSVS graduated over 200 students. Many are now running shops in Anambra, Abuja, Lagos, and outside Nigeria. The school runs morning and afternoon batches so your child can still help at home. Approved by Anambra State government, it is the only vocational school in Anambra State with Federal government award of excellence.

Sylvia’s Take

I visited HPSVS last November during their exhibition. I saw 19-year-old girls who came in shy the previous year now teaching visitors how to bake and bead. One of the students told me, “Aunty, I made ₦38,000 last December sewing for Christmas.”

That is why I’m telling you about this form.

₦5,
000 is the entry point. Yes, you should still ask the school about full fees, duration, and certificate type. That is wisdom. But don’t let questions stop you from starting. The school office is open. The teachers are there. Go and hear it directly.

Happy students of HPSVS

Here is how to do it right:

  1. Go with your child: Let her or she see the machines, the classrooms, the other students. If his/her eye likes it, he/she will stay.
    2. Ask for their payment plan: HPSVS allows installments for many courses. Tell them what you can afford monthly.
    3. Collect the graduation list: Ask to see photos of past students and where they work now. Good schools are proud to show you.
    4. Start early: Forms are out now. Classes fill up fast, especially Fashion, Hair, and craft. We complain that our youths have no work. HPSVS is one of the places in Awka solving that problem. They don’t just teach theory. Their students do practical every week. Catering students cook. Fashion students sew. Graphic students design.

Bottom line: A skill puts money in his/her hand. ₦5,000form at HPSVS is the first step. Don’t wait till December when the classes are full and your child is still at home.Take him/her to Nodu this week. Let him/her choose one skill. One year from now, he or she could be the one you’re calling to send small money.
