Tyla 2026 Grammy Awards Win

The 2026 Grammy Awards have come and gone, leaving a mix of emotions among music fans, especially in Africa. In a stunning turn of events, South African singer-songwriter Tyla took home the Best African Music Performance award for her hit song “Push 2 Start”, beating out some of Nigeria’s biggest stars, including Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid.

Tyla’s win marks her second consecutive year taking home the award, having won in 2024 for her popular track “Water”. This year’s competition was fierce, with Davido’s “With You” featuring Omah Lay being one of the strong contenders. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for Davido, who now has five nominations without a win.

While some fans were overjoyed by Tyla’s win, others expressed disappointment and questioned the outcome. Social media was flooded with reactions, with many praising Tyla’s talent and international profile, while others felt that the award should have gone to one of the Nigerian nominees.

In a show of solidarity, Cubana Chief Priest, a close friend of Davido, took to his social media to offer words of encouragement to the heartbroken singer. “Stay resilient, Daves, keep creating music. The world is listening,” he wrote.

Tyla’s win is a testament to her hard work and dedication to her craft. Her unique sound and style have captured the hearts of fans worldwide, and her international profile is growing by the day. With this win, Tyla cements her position as one of Africa’s top artists, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

As for Davido, the journey continues. With five nominations under his belt and no wins, it is clear that he is still hungry for that elusive Grammy trophy. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for him.
