Prof. Orogbu Empowers Constituents with Cars, Buses

The member representing Awka North/South Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the House of Representatives, Prof. Lilian Orogbu, has distributed various empowerment items to constituents drawn from communities across the constituency.

The items distributed included cars, shuttle buses, tricycles, motorcycles, freezers and generators, as well as scholarship grants to selected students.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Orogbu said the empowerment programme was designed to appreciate party members and constituents who contributed immensely to her electoral victory during the 2023 elections.
Describing empowerment programmes as a cardinal component of effective representation, she disclosed that the second phase of the programme had been scheduled for November.
She appealed to those who did not benefit from the first phase to remain patient, assuring them of her commitment to doing more if given the mandate to serve a second term.
The lawmaker, who solicited the continued support of the people to ensure victory at the polls, underscored the importance of electing a ranking legislator to represent the constituency.
In his goodwill message, the Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, commended the lawmaker for her commitment to improving the welfare of her constituents through impactful empowerment initiatives.
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, described Prof. Orogbu as a rare gem and a model of effective representation. He urged the people to support her re-election to ensure the sustainability of the empowerment programme.
Contributing, the State Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, said the party was proud of Prof. Orogbu’s achievements in office and commended her for deeming it worthy to empower her constituents.
He urged the people of the constituency to continue supporting the lawmaker and other candidates of the party in order to sustain the dividends of democracy in the constituency.
The empowerment programme, which was held at Finotel Hotels, attracted support groups, traditional rulers, elders and other stakeholders.

Empowerment is most meaningful when it goes beyond handing out items and creates lasting opportunities for people to improve their lives.
Cars, buses, tricycles, motorcycles and other business-support items can provide beneficiaries with a means of livelihood, while scholarships can help young people pursue their education and build better futures.
For women, young people and families struggling with the rising cost of living, practical support that creates income opportunities can make a real difference.
But empowerment should also be measured by its sustainability, fairness and reach. As Prof. Orogbu prepares for the second phase of the programme, the expectation will be that more constituents—especially those who were left out of the first phase—will have an opportunity to benefit.
Ultimately, effective representation should be about more than political support. It should translate into opportunities, stronger livelihoods and tangible improvements in the lives of the people.
